Corpus Christi Homily of Pope Benedict XVI |
|
|
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On the eve of his Passion, during the Passover meal, the Lord took the bread in his hands - as we heard a short
time ago in the Gospel passage - and, having blessed it, he broke it and gave it to his Disciples, saying: "Take
this, this is my body". He then took the chalice, gave thanks and passed it to them and they all drank from it. He
said: "This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, to be poured out on behalf of many" (Mk 14: 22-24). |
