Antonio who in religious life is Fr. Gbariele Maria Pelletieri, was born in Vaglio Basilicata (Potenza) on June 11, 1940 of his parents Raffaele and Antonia Biscione.
At the age of 10, he entered the minor seminary of the Friars Minor Conventual of Ravello, Italy where he attended the secondary school. He frequented the classes for licentiate in Naples, in St. Anastasia, a seminary of the Friars Minor Conventual of the religious province of Naples. He knew Fr. Stefano Manelli who was his first instructor of music in the minor seminary and in four years of philosophy, his professor.
On September 17, 1957, with the name of Gabriele Maria, he made his first simple profession; on September 17, 1961, his solemn profession and in March 14 1965, he was ordained a priest. He studied his licentiate in Sacred Theology in the Pontifical Faculty of "Seraphicum" (Roma).
In the years 1966-69, being assigned in various convents/friaries in the Province of Naples, Fr. Gabriel met in acommunity, once again as friar companion, Fr. Stefano Manelli and began with him a more profound spiritual communion
In 1967-70 he was the vice rector and professor of literature in the minor seminary of the Order.
On August 2 1970, after the approbation of the Minister General and the applause of the Provincial Chapter of the Conventuals in Naples, he started with Fr. Stefano Manelli an experience of the reformed Franciscan life in "Casa Mariana" in Frigento (AV), observing the particular Statute Marian Traccia of Franciscan Life.
He was the superior of Casa Mariana in Frigento for two terms (from 1973 until 1979).
In August 23 1979, together with tjhree other friars of the community of Casa Mariana of Frigento, he left for the mission in the Philippines and remained there as superior of the mission until April of 1989. For three years (1980-83) he was also the parish priest of St. Francis and St. Quiteria oChurch in Manila; for three yearshe had been the master of novices in the seminary of the friars in Novaliches (Metro Manila).
In the Novaliches, Philippines, he assisted and guided a group of young women who formed the first religious community of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate.
Returning back to Italy in April 1989, he took residence in the community of Casa Mariana in Frigento.
At the erection of the Institute of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, he was elected Vicar General up to the present. Currently, he is also the superior of Casa Mariana in Frigento and National Delegate for Italy.
