New Website for Australian Mission Print E-mail

AusMaria.COM, which stands for the slogan "Australia pro Maria" is the new internet site of the Franciscans of the Immaculate in Western Australia. Launched recently after Easter, the new site shows a promising improvement both in scope and purpose from their previous site Mary Gate of Heaven (marygateofheaven.com) site. The primary motive of putting up the site is to be a a source of information of the life, apostolate and work of the Franciscans of the Immaculate in Western Australia. Moreover, the friars foresee a great potential for the site for attracting local vocations. Religious and priestly vocation in Australia and in the whole Oceania are in great crisis and they hope to provide a "cyberspace" presence of the community for young men and women.

Learning from the experience of their American brothers and sisters who experienced the influx of vocations in USA because of their American website (marymediatrix.com, an average of three emails a week for vocation inquiry), the friars in Australia hope to achieve similar ends would take place in their new cyberspace presence.

If there is anything that young people in particular and adult of all age in general, is engaged with, it is often the internet activities. Although it can be a powerful instrument of communication and evangelization, the internet can be man's worst enemy when placed in evil hands the intent to corrupt morals and conduct. Hence, the internet site of the friars in Australia is designed to be used also as means of evangelization in the future.

The Australian website features primarily the religious life and apostolate of the Franciscans of the Immaculate in Australia, promotion of vocations, advertisement of events of the communities as well and spiritual formation by making available written catechetical and Marian articles. The friars hope to expand many features of their site in the future that would deploy multimedia content. We are pleased to make our Lady present in the "Australian cyberspace". You can visit them at AusMaria.com.
