It has been a hallmark of our American foundation to promote the cause of the Immaculate especially the clarification of the Marian doctrine of Mary as Mediatrix and Coredemptrix. The very presence of Fr. Peter Damien Fahlner who stirs these activities whether by way of print or any means of media communication, is the bastion of the American strength of the Franciscans of the Immaculate.
One such activity that is spearheaded by the same Fr. Fehlner is the organization of the Marian Symposium on Marian Coredemption in the new Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It should be pointed out that this shrine was consecrated last year by the Archbishop Emeritus of St. Louis, Archbishop Raymond Burke, who is now the prefect of the Apostolic Signatura of the Vatican, similar to America's supreme court. The same archbishop build this beautiful shrine and asked the Franciscans of the Immaculate to take charge of the shrine in its care and administration of the sacraments. This one day symposium which will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2009, focuses on the discussion both scholarly and in popular presentation of the mystery of Mary as Coredemption. Renowned speakers in the English speaking world will grace the event: Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer, President, Human Life International, Dr. Mark Miravalle, professor of Mariology in Franciscan University of Steubenville and President, Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici Fr. Peter Damien Fehlner,FI mariologist and rector, Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Fr. Pable Straub, C.Ss.R., well-known EWTN personality, Raymond de Souza, founder, St. Gabriel Communications apologist and EWTN personality and Fr. Joseph Hirsch, Vocations Director, Diocese of La Crosse. Like in Indiana Marian symposium which the friars organized in previous years, the event will be hosted by the talented Dana Scallon, Catholic singer and songwriter. It is expected to draw thousands of participants in this event not just of the interesting speakers mentioned but also of the beautiful venue of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. It is in here the mind and art meets that elevate the human heart to a profound appreciation of the mystery of Mary. That is why particpants do not only see this as opportunity to deepen their understanding of Mary's mystery but a pilgrimage of love that will warm their hearts in such a marvelous way. Anyone interested may visit the symposium site for registration. Source: Immaculate Mediatrix Online
